Emergency Medicine Medics Project – Supporting Hospital ERs Nationwide

United Hatzalah’s Emergency Medicine Medics Project tackles overcrowding in hospital emergency rooms by embedding trained volunteer EMTs and paramedics on-site. Launched in 2011 at Rambam Hospital in Haifa, the program swiftly expanded across Israel.:contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}

Volunteers commit to at least two shifts per month, assisting ER teams with tasks such as monitoring vital signs, operating medical devices, drawing blood, and setting up IVs. Some volunteers even receive Ministry of Health–approved phlebotomy training to further their capabilities.

The impact is clear: the program significantly reduces patient wait times and frees healthcare professionals to focus on critical cases. By 2024, volunteer medics were active in 25 hospitals, completing over 11,111 shifts and contributing nearly 49,589 volunteer hours across the country.

This initiative not only delivers faster, more efficient care—but also provides volunteers with valuable experience in emergency medicine, deepening their practical skills and readiness for first‑response calls.

Your donation helps sustain training, coordination, and operations—ensuring the Emergency Medicine Medics Project continues to support hospitals, lighten staff load, and enhance patient outcomes across Israel.
